Description

The Secure WAN 8100 G2 is a fanless small-branch secure router from Cisco's 8100 Series. It suits point-of-sale sites, small branches, remote workers, IoT deployments and temporary or mobile locations that need secure routing or SD-WAN with built-in security and resilient WAN options.

This SKU is defined by its embedded VDSL2/ADSL modem for POTS lines (Annex A) and an embedded 5G RedCap cellular module with dual nano SIM slots. WAN connectivity includes a 1GE RJ-45/SFP combo port, an RJ-11 DSL port and an XGSPON/10G BASE-T port, with 6 x 1GE RJ-45 LAN ports and 2 x 1GE RJ-45 flex ports. Forwarding throughput is 5.6 Gbps (512B), IPsec throughput is 1.5 Gbps, SD-WAN throughput is 900 Mbps and threat protection throughput is 1 Gbps (EMIX).

It runs IOS XE 26.1.1 or later for autonomous routing or SD-WAN, and Catalyst SD-WAN Manager 26.1.1 or later is needed for SD-WAN operation. Power comes from a 66W external supply with a typical draw of 27W, and mounting options include rackmount, desktop, under desk and DIN-rail or wall.

Q: Which DSL type does this router support?
A: It has an embedded VDSL2/ADSL modem for POTS lines (Annex A), supporting VDSL2 profiles up to 35b plus ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+.

Q: Does it support SD-WAN?
A: Yes. SD-WAN operation needs IOS XE 26.1.1 or later and Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Manager 26.1.1 or later.

Q: How is it powered, and does it provide PoE?
A: It uses a 66W external power supply with a 12 VDC input and draws about 27W typically. There is no PoE on this model.

Q: Can I fit a different cellular module?
A: No. The 5G RedCap module is embedded in this SKU. The pluggable cellular PIMs are supported only on the C8151-G2 and C8161-G2.
