Description

The Cisco 8100 Series G2 is a fanless secure router built for small branch sites, point-of-sale connectivity, remote and home workers, IoT and remote asset management. This model combines an integrated VDSL2/ADSL modem for ISDN lines (Annex B/J) with an embedded 5G RedCap cellular module, so a branch can use DSL or cellular as its primary or backup WAN.

It provides 9 x 1GE ports in total. WAN connectivity covers 1 x 1GE RJ-45/SFP combo, 1 x RJ-11 DSL and 1 x XGSPON/10G BASE-T, alongside 2 flex ports and 6 LAN ports, all 1GE RJ-45. The cellular module has dual nano-SIM slots. Forwarding throughput is 5.6 Gbps (512B), IPsec is 1.5 Gbps, SD-WAN is 900 Mbps and threat protection is 1 Gbps. Power comes from the 66W external AC adapter, with a typical draw of 27W and no PoE output.

The router ships with Cisco Routing OS Essentials as a perpetual licence, with an optional OS Advantage upgrade. It runs autonomous routing or Catalyst SD-WAN from IOS XE 26.1.1. Mounting options include rack mount, desktop, under desk and DIN rail or wall mount.

FAQs

Q: What licence does the router ship with?
A: It ships preloaded with Cisco Routing OS Essentials as a perpetual licence. An optional OS Advantage perpetual upgrade is available. Subscriptions are optional: Cisco Routing Advantage for traditional routing, or Cisco WAN Essentials or Advantage for Catalyst SD-WAN.

Q: What power supply does it use and does it provide PoE?
A: It uses the PWR-CC1-66WAC 66W external AC adapter with a 12 VDC input. Typical power draw is 27W. The router has no PoE output.

Q: Does it work with Cisco cellular PIM modules?
A: No. This model has an embedded 5G RedCap module, so the P-5GS6-R16SA-GL and P-LTEA7 series PIM modules are not supported on it.

Q: Which mounting kits are available?
A: Rack mounting uses kit C8151-C-G2-RM-19. DIN rail mounting uses ACS-1111-DRM= and under desk mounting uses ACS-1100-UDM=. The router can also sit on a desktop.

Q: What software is required for routing and SD-WAN?
A: Both autonomous routing and Catalyst SD-WAN need IOS XE 26.1.1 or later. SD-WAN also needs Catalyst SD-WAN Manager 26.1.1 or later.

Q: What DSL types does the embedded modem support?
A: The embedded modem supports VDSL2 (profiles 8a to 35b) and ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+ over ISDN lines using Annex B/J.
