Description

The Cisco 8100 G2 secure router is a compact, fanless small-branch router with an embedded VDSL2/ADSL2+ modem for ISDN-based lines (Annex B/J). It suits small branch and remote sites that need secure routing, such as point-of-sale connectivity, remote workers, IoT and quick deployment for temporary or mobile sites. It is a good fit for ISDN-based DSL markets that also want a fibre WAN option.

The WAN side offers one 1GE RJ-45/SFP combo port, one RJ-11 DSL port and one XGSPON/10G BASE-T port, alongside two 1GE LAN ports and two 1GE flex ports. It delivers 1.9 Gbps forwarding throughput and 1.5 Gbps IPsec throughput (512B), with 4 GB DRAM and 16 GB flash. Power comes from a 66W external adapter, with a typical draw of 23W. The router supports 280K IPv4 routes and 250 IPsec tunnels, and can be mounted on a rack, desktop, under a desk, or on a DIN rail or wall.

It is preloaded with the perpetual Cisco Routing OS Essentials licence and runs in routing mode, requiring IOS XE 26.1.1 or later. SD-WAN operation requires IOS XE 26.2.1. Compatible mounting options include the C8130-G2-RM-19= rack kit, the ACS-1111-DRM= DIN rail kit and the ACS-1100-UDM= under-desk kit.

FAQs

Q: What licence does it come with?
A: It is preloaded with the perpetual Cisco Routing OS Essentials licence. Optional upgrades include the perpetual OS Advantage licence, the Routing Advantage term subscription, or Catalyst SD-WAN WAN Essentials and Advantage subscriptions. It does not support the Threat, URL Filtering and Malware Defense add-on licences.

Q: Does it support SD-WAN?
A: It runs in routing mode by default. SD-WAN operation requires IOS XE and SD-WAN Manager 26.2.1. Routing mode requires IOS XE 26.1.1 or later.

Q: How is it powered and does it provide PoE?
A: It uses a 66W external AC adapter with a 12 VDC input and a typical draw of 23W. It does not provide PoE or PoE+ output.

Q: Which DSL standards does the RJ-11 port support?
A: The embedded modem supports VDSL2 (ITU G.993.2, profiles 8a to 35b) and ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+ over ISDN (Annex B/J).

Q: Can I add a cellular module?
A: No. Cellular PIM modules are not supported on this model.

Q: How can it be mounted?
