Description

The EX9253 Base AC system configuration is a compact 3U modular core Ethernet switch chassis with three 1600W AC power supplies, one EX9253-RE Routing Engine and four front-to-back fan trays. Two slots are available for line cards, which are ordered separately, delivering up to 2.4 Tbps per slot. It runs Junos OS and suits medium-sized enterprise core and aggregation deployments. A spare slot allows a second Routing Engine for hot-standby redundancy.

Q: Does the EX9253-BASE-AC include line cards?
A: No. The base configuration includes the chassis, one Routing Engine, four fan trays, three AC power supplies and blank panels. Line cards must be ordered separately.

Q: Which line cards are supported?
A: The EX9253-6Q12C and EX9253-6Q12C-M line cards are supported, and the EX9253-12C8Q-M, which adds MACsec, is also supported per the hardware guide.

Q: Can a second Routing Engine be added?
A: Yes. The chassis has a slot for a redundant Routing Engine operating in hot-standby mode. It is not included in this base SKU.

Q: What power redundancy does this configuration offer?
A: It ships with three 1600W AC power supplies. The chassis holds up to six PSUs, allowing 3+1 redundancy when additional supplies are installed.

Q: What is the maximum port density?
A: Up to 144x 10GbE with breakout, 36x 40GbE or 24x 100GbE, all at wire speed, depending on the installed line cards.
