Description

The HF6100-64ED is a cloud-managed data centre fabric switch from the Cisco 6000 Series, part of the Nexus Hyperfabric family. It is built for high-density leaf and spine deployments and AI/ML fabrics, and is managed through the Cisco Nexus Hyperfabric Cloud Controller with zero-touch provisioning.

It is built on the Cisco Silicon One G200 ASIC in a 2RU chassis, with 64 x 100/200/400/800GbE OSFP ports on 112 Gb SerDes and breakout support. Switching capacity reaches 51.2 Tbps with a 20 Bpps forwarding rate. A single QSFP28 10/25G port is reserved for Punt Injection Ethernet, and management is provided by RJ45 Ethernet, RJ45 RS-232 and USB-C ports. The platform supports up to 512,000 MAC addresses, 4094 VLAN IDs and jumbo frames up to 9,216 bytes.

Two 3000W high-voltage AC or DC power supply slots provide 1+1 redundancy, and four fan slots provide 3+1 cooling. Typical system power is 995 W at 51.2 Tbps, excluding pluggable optics load. The switch requires an active Nexus Hyperfabric subscription for cloud-controller connectivity, and no separate software licence is needed. Supported Cisco pluggable transceivers are listed in the Cisco TMG matrix.

FAQs

Q: Does the HF6100-64ED need a software licence?
A: No separate software licence is needed. It requires an active Cisco Nexus Hyperfabric subscription for cloud-controller connectivity, in the Essentials or AI Premier tier. All switches in a fabric must use the same tier.

Q: What power supplies does it use?
A: It has two power supply slots for 3000W high-voltage units (PSU3KW-HVPI) in either AC or DC, running in 1+1 redundancy. Typical system power is 995 W at 51.2 Tbps, excluding pluggable optics load.

Q: Which transceivers work with this switch?
A: Supported Cisco pluggable transceivers are listed in the Cisco TMG matrix for HF6100-64ED. The 64 OSFP ports support 100G, 200G, 400G and 800G speeds, with breakout support.

Q: How is the switch managed?
A: It is managed through the Cisco Nexus Hyperfabric Cloud Controller using zero-touch provisioning. The controller is accessed from Chrome 70+, Firefox 62+ or Edge 94+.

Q: What happens if the controller is unreachable?
A: The switch continues to operate on its last-known configuration if the controller is unreachable or the subscription expires.
