Description

The EX4550 is a 1U converged 10GbE switch with 32 fixed 100M/1G/10GBASE-T ports, built for data centre top-of-rack and aggregation deployments. This AFI variant ships with an AC power supply and back-to-front airflow, and it has no PoE. Two expansion slots take optional SFP+, 10GBASE-T, 40GbE QSFP+ or Virtual Chassis modules to scale to 48 ports, and the switch runs Junos OS with Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching.

FAQs

Q: Does the EX4550-32T-AFI support PoE?
A: No. This model has no PoE support. It is a data-only switch with 32 fixed 100M/1G/10GBASE-T ports.

Q: What does the AFI suffix mean?
A: AFI indicates an AC-powered unit with back-to-front airflow. Choose it when your rack airflow is designed to draw air in from the rear of the equipment.

Q: Can the port count be expanded?
A: Yes. Two expansion slots accept optional 8-port SFP+, 8-port 10GBASE-T or 2-port 40GbE QSFP+ modules, allowing up to 48 ports in total.

Q: Are 40GbE uplinks built in?
A: The base unit has 32 fixed 10GBASE-T ports. 40GbE QSFP+ connectivity is added through an optional expansion module installed in one of the two slots.

Q: Can it be stacked with other Juniper switches?
A: Yes. Virtual Chassis allows up to 10 members and can be mixed with EX4200 and EX4500 switches, using the optional 128Gbps Virtual Chassis module.
