Description

The EX4550 is a 1U fixed-configuration Layer 3 switch with 32 fixed 1/10GbE SFP/SFP+ ports and two expansion module slots, suited to data centre top-of-rack, campus wiring closet and large branch deployments. This variant ships with a 650W AC power supply and AFI airflow, with air intake on the PSU side and exhaust on the port side. It runs Junos OS and supports Virtual Chassis with up to 10 members, delivering 960 Gbps of switching capacity and 714 Mpps throughput.

FAQs

Q: What airflow does the EX4550-32F-AFI use?
A: AFI airflow is back-to-front, with air drawn in on the power supply side and exhausted on the port side. Plan rack orientation so the port side faces the hot aisle.

Q: Can the 32 SFP+ ports run at both 1G and 10G?
A: Yes. The 32 fixed ports accept 1GbE SFP and 10GbE SFP+ optics or DAC cables. Optics are sold separately.

Q: Can I add more ports to this switch?
A: Yes. Two expansion module slots support optional 8-port 1/10G SFP+, 8-port 10GBASE-T, 2x40GE QSFP+ or 2x32G Virtual Chassis modules, giving up to 48 wire-speed 10GbE ports.

Q: Does this switch provide PoE?
A: No. The EX4550-32F-AFI is a non-PoE switch. It ships with one 650W AC power supply and supports a second for 1+1 redundancy.

Q: Can multiple units be managed as one switch?
A: Yes. Virtual Chassis allows up to 10 interconnected EX4550 switches to operate as a single logical device with one management IP address.
