Description

The Cisco Nexus 9336C-FX2 is a high-density 1RU data centre switch delivering 7.2 Tbps bandwidth and over 2.4 billion packets per second. With 36 QSFP28 ports supporting flexible 1/10/25/40/50/100 Gbps speeds and full breakout capability, this Layer 3-enabled switch is ideal for spine-leaf architectures, cloud-scale deployments, and converged fabrics. The port-side exhaust airflow configuration suits cold-aisle data centre deployments.

FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the port-side exhaust and port-side intake airflow options?
A: Port-side exhaust (blue-coded modules) directs air from the power supply side through to the port side, suited for cold-aisle deployments where cool air enters from the rear. Port-side intake (burgundy-coded) does the opposite. All power supplies and fan modules in a single switch must match the same airflow direction.

Q: Does this switch support breakout cables on all ports?
A: Yes, the Nexus 9336C-FX2 supports breakout on all 36 QSFP28 ports. Each 100G port can be broken out into 4x25G, 4x10G (with QSA), 2x50G, or operate natively as 100G or 40G. Ports 7-32 also support 1G with QSA adapters.

Q: Is Layer 3 routing included with this SKU?
A: Yes, the N9K-C9336-FX2-Z-PE includes Layer 3 licensing enabled, supporting full routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIPv2, PIM-SM, SSM, and MSDP. This makes it suitable for spine-leaf fabrics and enterprise core/aggregation deployments.

Q: What power supply options are compatible with this switch?
A: The switch requires two redundant hot-swappable power supplies with port-side exhaust (blue): NXA-PAC-750W-PE (750W AC), NXA-PAC-1100W-PE2 (1100W AC), or NXA-PDC-1100W-PE (1100W DC). Operating with one PSU is supported, though two are recommended for redundancy.

Q: Can this switch be used in VXLAN EVPN fabrics?
A: Yes, the Nexus 9336C-FX2 with NX-OS supports standards-based VXLAN EVPN fabrics with MP-BGP control plane, including hierarchical multi-site deployments. It also supports vPC (Virtual PortChannel), MACsec encryption on all ports, and comprehensive telemetry for modern data centre architectures.
