Description

The Cisco Nexus N9K-C93108TC-FX is a high-performance 1RU data centre switch designed for leaf-and-spine deployments in enterprise, cloud, and service provider environments. Featuring 48 ports of 100M/1/10GBASE-T and 6 QSFP28 uplinks supporting 40/100G, it delivers 2.16 Tbps switching capacity and over 1.2 Bpps forwarding performance with 40MB shared buffers. Supporting both Cisco NX-OS and ACI modes, this switch provides MACsec encryption on 10G ports, VXLAN EVPN capabilities, dual management interfaces, and hot-swappable power supplies and fans for maximum flexibility and uptime.

FAQs

Q: Does this switch support Power over Ethernet?
A: No, the N9K-C93108TC-FX does not support PoE. It is designed as a high-density data centre switch for server and storage connectivity, not for powering endpoints.

Q: What licensing is required for this switch?
A: The N9K-C93108TC-FX requires either NX-OS Essentials or NX-OS Advantage software licenses for standalone mode, or ACI Essentials/Advantage licenses for ACI fabric deployments. Licenses are sold separately and are typically subscription-based.

Q: Can the 48 BASE-T ports run at different speeds simultaneously?
A: Yes, each of the 48 RJ-45 ports can auto-negotiate and independently run at 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, or 10 Gbps, making it ideal for mixed-speed environments and staged migration from legacy infrastructure.

Q: Is MACsec encryption supported on all ports?
A: MACsec wire-rate encryption is supported on ports operating at 10 Gbps and higher, including the 48 BASE-T ports when running at 10G and all six QSFP28 uplink ports at 40G or 100G.

Q: What deployment scenarios is this switch best suited for?
A: The N9K-C93108TC-FX is ideal for top-of-rack deployments in data centres with existing copper cabling infrastructure. It excels in VXLAN EVPN fabrics, ACI environments, and brownfield upgrades where CAT6/CAT6A cabling is already in place.
