FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the 3132Q and 3132Q-X models?
A: The 3132Q-X is an enhanced hardware revision with improved CPU performance, removal of retimers for better signal integrity, different port layout with LED lane selector, and 40W lower power consumption compared to the original 3132Q.

Q: Can the QSFP+ ports operate in 10 Gigabit Ethernet mode?
A: Yes, each of the 32 QSFP+ ports can operate in either native 40 Gigabit Ethernet mode or 4 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet mode using QSFP-to-SFP+ breakout cables, providing deployment flexibility.

Q: What routing protocols are supported with the LAN Enterprise license?
A: The LAN Enterprise license enables advanced Layer 3 routing including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIPv2, PIM-SM, PIM-SSM, MSDP, HSRP, VRRP, VRF-lite, and policy-based routing (PBR).

Q: What is the reversed airflow configuration for?
A: The reversed airflow (port-side intake) design allows air to enter from the port side and exhaust from the power supply side, which is required in specific data center hot-aisle/cold-aisle configurations to maintain proper cooling efficiency.

Q: Is this switch suitable for spine-and-leaf data center architectures?
A: Yes, the Nexus 3132Q-X is specifically designed for modern data center deployments as a spine switch or top-of-rack leaf switch, supporting features like Virtual Port Channel (vPC) and 64-way ECMP for Layer 3 fabric designs.
