Description

The Cisco Nexus 3132Q delivers high-performance data center switching with 32 QSFP+ ports supporting native 40 Gigabit Ethernet or 4x10G breakout mode. Designed for top-of-rack and leaf deployments, this 1RU switch provides 2.5 Tbps switching capacity with line-rate Layer 2 and Layer 3 performance. The DC power supply and forward airflow configuration make it ideal for hot-aisle containment environments, while the included LAN Enterprise license enables full routing capabilities.

Features

Wire-rate Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching on all ports
- Virtual Port Channel (vPC) for Layer 2 multipathing and active-active redundancy
- Comprehensive Layer 3 routing: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIPv2, PIM-SM, PIM-SSM, MSDP
- Gateway redundancy protocols: HSRP, VRRP, GLBP
- Advanced QoS with 8 egress queues per port
- Security features: 802.1X, ACLs (4000 ingress, 1000 egress), DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, IP Source Guard
- VLAN support: 4096 VLANs, Private VLANs (PVLAN)
- Spanning Tree Protocol: RSTP (512 instances), MSTP (64 instances)
- Storm control for broadcast, multicast, and unknown unicast traffic
- Link aggregation: IEEE 802.3ad (LACP) support
- Management: Cisco NX-OS, DCNM support, SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow
- Hot-swappable redundant power supplies and fans (3+1 redundancy)
- Dual redundant cooling fans for high availability
- Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) support
- Low latency design for high-frequency trading and real-time applications

FAQs

Q: Can the QSFP+ ports be used for 10GbE connectivity?
A: Yes, each of the 32 QSFP+ ports can operate in native 40 Gigabit Ethernet mode or be broken out into 4x 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections using appropriate breakout cables or transceivers, providing up to 128x 10GbE ports.

Q: What routing protocols are supported with the LAN Enterprise license?
A: The included LAN Enterprise license enables full Layer 3 routing including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIPv2, static routing, HSRP, VRRP, PIM-SM, PIM-SSM, MSDP, and policy-based routing (PBR).

Q: What is the airflow direction and when should this model be used?
A: This model features forward airflow (port-side exhaust), making it suitable for data centers with hot-aisle containment where cool air enters from the power supply side and exhausts from the port side.

Q: Is this switch suitable for spine or leaf deployments?
A: The Nexus 3132Q is primarily designed as a high-performance leaf or top-of-rack switch for data center fabrics, providing excellent east-west traffic handling with its 40G density and low latency.

Q: Does this switch support Virtual Port Channel (vPC)?
A: Yes, the Nexus 3132Q supports vPC technology, enabling Layer 2 multipathing, eliminating Spanning Tree Protocol dependencies, and providing fully utilized bisectional bandwidth in dual-homed server environments.
