FAQs

Q: What routing protocols are supported with the LAN Enterprise license?
A: The LAN Enterprise license includes full Layer 3 routing capabilities: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIPv2, static routing, inter-VLAN routing, VRF-lite, and advanced multicast protocols including PIM-SM, SSM, and MSDP. This enables comprehensive data center routing without additional license purchases.

Q: Can the QSFP+ ports be used for 10G connectivity?
A: Yes, each QSFP+ port supports 4x 10 Gigabit Ethernet breakout using QSFP-to-4xSFP+ splitter cables, or 40 Gigabit Ethernet using standard QSFP+ transceivers or DAC cables. This provides flexible uplink options for connecting to aggregation or core switches.

Q: What makes this switch suitable for high-frequency trading environments?
A: The Nexus 3064-X features ultra-low latency through its PHY-less architecture, line-rate performance on all ports, and deterministic forwarding. Combined with support for precision time protocol and advanced QoS, it meets the demanding requirements of financial trading applications.

Q: Is this switch compatible with existing 1 Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure?
A: Yes, all 48 SFP+ ports support both 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet operation, allowing smooth migration from legacy infrastructure. The ports auto-negotiate speed and work with standard Cisco SFP and SFP+ transceivers.

Q: What is the difference between forward and reverse airflow models?
A: The FA model features forward airflow with port-side exhaust (air enters through the fan tray and exits through the ports), suitable for hot-aisle/cold-aisle configurations where the switch front faces the cold aisle. The BA model has reverse airflow for opposite deployment scenarios.
