FAQs

Q: What components are included with the DCS-7512N-CH chassis?
A: The DCS-7512N-CH is an empty chassis only. Supervisor modules, line cards, fabric modules, and power supplies must be purchased separately to build a functional system.

Q: What is the maximum switching capacity of the 7512N chassis?
A: The 7512N supports up to 115 Tbps of total switching capacity when fully populated with compatible 7500R or 7500E line cards, fabric modules, and supervisor modules.

Q: Can I use 7500E line cards in the 7512N chassis?
A: Yes, the 7512N chassis is backward compatible with 7500E line cards, fabric modules, and supervisor modules, providing investment protection and seamless migration paths.

Q: What rack mounting options are supported?
A: The DCS-7512N-CH requires a 4-post rack with an 18RU opening. A mounting shelf assembly is required and included in the accessory kit. Two-post mounting is not supported for this model.

Q: What is the power consumption of a fully loaded 7512N system?
A: Power consumption varies based on installed line cards. Typical consumption is approximately 25W per 100GbE port. Fully loaded systems can draw 5,500W to 11,000W depending on configuration and line card selection.
