FAQs

Q: What is the difference between FLX and FLX-Lite licenses?
A: The FLX license provides full routing capabilities with up to 2M routes, advanced MPLS-LER/LSR, more than 24K ACL entries, and AlgoMatch features. The FLX-Lite license supports up to 256K routes with base MPLS-LSR functionality, suitable for smaller routing deployments.

Q: What does the -R suffix indicate in this model?
A: The -R suffix denotes rear-to-front airflow, where air flows from the fan side to the switch port side. This configuration is designed for cold-aisle data center deployments. If your environment requires front-to-rear airflow, consider the DCS-7280TR3-40C6-FLX-F variant.

Q: What deployment scenarios is the 7280TR3-40C6 best suited for?
A: This switch is ideal for data center leaf-spine architectures, aggregation layers, internet peering, and high-density server connectivity. The 10GBASE-T ports provide copper connectivity for direct server attachment, while the 100G QSFP uplinks deliver high-speed connectivity to spine switches or core infrastructure.

Q: Does this switch support VXLAN and EVPN?
A: Yes, with the FLX license included, this switch supports full VXLAN and EVPN capabilities for network virtualization and overlay networks, including EVPN with IRB and multi-tenancy features essential for modern data center fabrics.

Q: What advanced features are available with this model?
A: The 7280R3 series includes Arista EOS features such as CloudVision integration, Zero-Touch Provisioning, LANZ latency monitoring, DANZ tap aggregation, Accelerated sFlow, Inband Network Telemetry, Algorithmic ACLs, MLAG, and hardware-accelerated MACsec and IPsec encryption.
