FAQs

Q: What does the FLX license include on this model?
A: The FLX license provides full Layer 3 routing capabilities including OSPF, ISIS, BGP, PIM, up to 2 million IPv4/IPv6 routes, advanced MPLS LER/LSR, EVPN, VXLAN, Segment Routing, and over 24K ACL entries. This enables deployment as a full-featured data center router at leaf, spine, or aggregation layers.

Q: What is the difference between the -F and -R suffix models?
A: The -F suffix indicates front-to-rear airflow where cool air enters from the port side and exhausts toward the fan side. The -R suffix indicates rear-to-front airflow. Select the model that matches your data center hot aisle/cold aisle cooling design.

Q: Can I mix 10G RJ45 copper and 100G fiber ports simultaneously?
A: Yes, all 40 copper RJ45 ports and all 6 QSFP28 100G fiber ports are active simultaneously, providing flexible connectivity for copper server connections with high-speed fiber uplinks or fabric connections.

Q: What deployment scenarios is this switch router designed for?
A: The 7280TR3-40C6-FLX-F is ideal for data center leaf and spine architectures requiring dense copper connectivity with high-speed uplinks, aggregation layers, enterprise campus cores, internet peering, and data center interconnect where copper servers need fiber uplink connectivity.

Q: Does this model support network virtualization and overlay protocols?
A: Yes, with the FLX license it fully supports VXLAN routing and bridging, EVPN with IRB, Segment Routing, MPLS VPNs, and 512-way ECMP for modern data center overlay network designs and multi-tenancy deployments.
