Description

The Arista DCS-7280CR3MK-32D4S-F is a high-density 1U data center switch designed for demanding spine-leaf architectures and cloud networking. With 32 100GbE QSFP28 ports and 4 400GbE QSFP-DD uplinks, it delivers 9.6 Tbps throughput and 2 Bpps forwarding capacity with 8GB buffer for lossless performance. Hardware-based MACsec, IPsec, and VXLANsec encryption provide line-rate AES-256-GCM security, while large routing tables support up to 2.7M routes for internet peering and DCI deployments.

Features

Layer 2 switching: VLAN (4096), STP/RSTP/MSTP, MLAG, 802.1Q tunneling, LACP, IEEE 802.1ad (Q-in-Q)
- Layer 3 routing: BGP, OSPF, OSPFv3, IS-IS, VARP, ECMP, PBR, VRF-Lite, BFD

FAQs

Q: What encryption capabilities does the DCS-7280CR3MK-32D4S-F support?
A: This switch features hardware-based TunnelSec technology supporting MACsec (IEEE 802.1AE), IPsec (RFC 4303), and VXLANsec encryption at line rate using AES-256-GCM cipher. MACsec provides point-to-point link encryption, while IPsec and VXLANsec enable encrypted tunnels across multiple hops for WAN and data center interconnect deployments without performance degradation.

Q: Can the 100G QSFP28 ports be used for lower-speed connections?
A: Yes, the 32 QSFP28 ports support flexible breakout configurations including 40GbE, 4x25GbE on alternate ports, and 4x10GbE connectivity. The 4 QSFP-DD ports can also operate at 100GbE for backward compatibility, providing deployment flexibility across mixed-speed environments.

Q: What routing scale does this switch support?
A: The DCS-7280CR3MK-32D4S-F features a large route table supporting over 256,000 routes in standard configurations and scales up to 2.7 million routes with the FlexRoute engine and EOS NetDB. This makes it ideal for internet peering, service provider networks, and data center interconnect applications requiring massive routing scale.

Q: Is this switch suitable for spine or leaf deployments?
A: Yes, this model is designed as a universal leaf and spine switch. It supports both MLAG for active-active Layer 2 topologies and ECMP for fully non-blocking Layer 3 designs. The combination of high-density 100G ports and 400G uplinks makes it ideal for modern data center fabrics requiring high bandwidth and low latency.

Q: What redundancy features are included?
A: The switch includes dual redundant hot-swappable AC power supplies and hot-swappable fan modules with N+1 redundancy for continuous operation. It also supports advanced Arista EOS features including Zero Touch Provisioning, system-wide hardware and software monitoring, and non-disruptive upgrades for maximum uptime.
