Description

The Arista DCS-7050SX3-24YC4C-S-R is a high-performance 1RU data center switch designed for demanding leaf and spine deployments. Featuring 24 ports of 25GbE SFP28 and 4 ports of 100GbE QSFP100, it delivers up to 1.6 Tbps throughput with ultra-low latency of 800 nanoseconds and a 32MB fully shared packet buffer. The rear-to-front airflow design ensures efficient cooling in hot-aisle/cold-aisle environments, making it ideal for high-density compute, storage, and network virtualization applications.

FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the -S and -R model suffix?
A: The -S suffix indicates standard front-to-rear airflow, while the -R suffix designates rear-to-front airflow. Choose the airflow direction based on your data center's hot-aisle/cold-aisle cooling design for optimal thermal management.

Q: Can the 25GbE ports support lower speeds like 10G and 1G?
A: Yes, the 24x 25GbE SFP28 ports can be configured in groups of 4 to run at 25G, 10G, or 1G speeds, providing flexibility for mixed-speed environments and gradual migration from legacy infrastructure.

Q: What breakout options are available on the 100GbE QSFP ports?
A: The 4x 100GbE QSFP100 ports support multiple breakout configurations including 100GbE, 40GbE, 4x25GbE, 4x10GbE, and 2x50GbE, enabling flexible connectivity for both leaf and spine deployments with a wide range of transceiver options.

Q: Does the switch require a software license for full Layer 3 functionality?
A: The switch includes base Layer 2 and Layer 3 features with EOS. Advanced routing capabilities such as full routing up to 256K routes, EVPN, VXLAN, and SR require the optional FLX-Lite license for fixed switches.

Q: Is this switch suitable for low-latency applications?
A: Yes, the DCS-7050SX3-24YC4C-S-R delivers consistent 800-nanosecond latency in cut-through mode, making it ideal for latency-sensitive applications such as high-frequency trading, real-time analytics, and high-performance compute environments.
