Description

The EX4100 is a fixed-configuration 1U access switch for campus and branch networks. This 48-port non-PoE model suits access-layer deployments, EVPN-VXLAN campus fabrics, Virtual Chassis stacks and Juniper Mist cloud-managed wired networks where back-to-front airflow is required.

It provides 48 x 10/100/1000BASE-T ports, four 1GbE/10GbE SFP+ uplink ports with MACsec, and four 10GbE/25GbE SFP28 ports used for Virtual Chassis or uplinks. Packet switching capacity is 188 Gbps unidirectional and 376 Gbps bidirectional. The AFI variant has back-to-front airflow with redundant fan modules, and is powered by a 150 W AC supply (JPSU-150-AC-AFI) with a second power supply slot for redundancy. As a non-PoE model it provides no PoE budget. It runs Standard Junos software.

The SFP+ ports accept 1GbE and 10GbE optics and the SFP28 ports accept 10GbE and 25GbE optics. The switch is supported from Junos OS 22.2R1.

FAQs

Q: Does this switch provide PoE?
A: No. The EX4100-48T-AFI is a non-PoE model, so it provides no PoE budget. Powered devices need a separate PoE source or a PoE variant of the EX4100.

Q: What software licence does it ship with?
A: It ships with Standard Junos software. Optional Advanced or Premium software tiers and Mist subscriptions are sold separately.

Q: What does AFI airflow mean?
A: AFI is back-to-front airflow. Air enters at the power supply and fan side and exits at the port side, which suits racks where the ports face the hot aisle.

Q: What optics do the uplink and stacking ports accept?
A: The four SFP+ ports accept 1GbE and 10GbE optics and support MACsec. The four SFP28 ports accept 10GbE and 25GbE optics and are used for Virtual Chassis or uplinks. Virtual Chassis formation is not supported with a 10GBASE-T transceiver in the VC ports.

Q: How many switches can be stacked in a Virtual Chassis?
A: Up to 10 members can be stacked in a Virtual Chassis using the SFP28 ports.
