Description

The Catalyst IW9167E Heavy Duty is a ruggedised, IP67-rated Wi-Fi 6E access point built for industrial sites, rail and vehicle-mounted equipment, automated guided vehicles and autonomous mobile robots. This SKU is supplied for the Rest of World (ROW) regulatory domain and loaded with Workgroup Bridge (WGB) software, so it associates to another access point as a client and gives wired equipment behind it a wireless connection to the network.

It has three 4x4:4 MU-MIMO radios covering 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 5/6 GHz, with PHY data rates up to 7.8 Gbps. Eight N-type external antenna ports and a TNC GNSS port allow flexible antenna placement, and Self-Identifiable Antennas are supported. Connectivity includes one Multigigabit Ethernet port (100M to 5G) that accepts PoE+ (802.3at/bt) and UPOE, plus one SFP port for copper or 1G/10G fibre. It can also be powered from 24 to 48 VDC. The unit is rated IP66/IP67 and UL50E Type 4X, and operates from -40 to +70 C.

WGB mode requires Cisco Unified Industrial Wireless Software 17.11.1 or later. PG 13.5 glands or M12 converters are needed on the Ethernet and power interfaces to maintain the IP67 rating.

FAQs

Q: What does WGB mode do?
A: In Workgroup Bridge mode the access point associates to another access point as a wireless client and provides network connectivity for wired equipment connected to its Ethernet port. It suits vehicles, robots and fixed machinery that have no wireless capability of their own.

Q: What software version does WGB mode require?
A: This SKU runs Cisco Unified Industrial Wireless Software 17.11.1 or later in Workgroup Bridge mode.

Q: How can I power it?
A: It accepts 802.3at PoE+, 802.3bt, Cisco UPOE or 24 to 48 VDC. Full 4x4 operation on all radios draws up to 48 W from 802.3bt or DC, while PoE+ supports 2x2 operation at around 25 W. Cisco lists the IW-PWRADPT-MFIT4P= adapter and IW-PWRINJ-60RGDMG= injector as power options.

Q: What is needed to keep the IP67 rating?
A: PG 13.5 glands or M12 converters must be used on the Ethernet and power interfaces to meet the IP67 rating.

Q: Which regulatory domain is this model for?
A: IW9167EH-ROW-WGB is supplied for the Rest of World (ROW) regulatory domain. Use of the 6 GHz band is subject to local regulatory approval.
