Description

The Catalyst IW9167E Heavy Duty is a ruggedised IP67 outdoor and industrial Wi-Fi 6E access point from the Catalyst IW9167 series, built for ports, mining, rail, utilities and stadiums. This IW9167EH-ROW-AP is the Rest of the World regulatory domain model running Wi-Fi (controller-based AP) software, with external antennas so the antenna can be chosen for each deployment.

Three 4x4 radios cover 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 5/6 GHz, with up to 160 MHz channels on the 5/6 GHz radio and PHY data rates up to 7.8 Gbps. Eight N-type antenna ports and one TNC GNSS port handle the RF side. Uplink options are one 100M/1G/2.5G/5G Multigigabit Ethernet port and one SFP port taking copper (100M/1G/10G mGig) or fibre (1G/10G) modules. Power comes from PoE+ (802.3at), UPOE (802.3bt) or 24 to 48 VDC, drawing 48 W at full 4x4 operation on UPOE or DC.

The access point is managed by Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers running IOS XE 17.9.4 or later. It supports Cisco industrial and outdoor antennas and Self-Identifiable Antennas (SIA), and runs on Cisco Industrial Wireless DNA subscriptions.

FAQs

Q: Does this access point need a licence?
A: In Wi-Fi mode it uses Cisco Industrial Wireless DNA subscriptions, either IW-DNA-E (Essentials) or IW-DNA-A (Advantage). The URWB licences only apply to the URWB software image.

Q: How is it powered?
A: It accepts PoE+ (802.3at), UPOE (802.3bt) or 24 to 48 VDC. Full 4x4 operation on all radios draws 48 W on UPOE or DC. On PoE+ it draws 25 W and the radios drop to 2x2.

Q: Which controllers manage it?
A: Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers, physical or virtual, running IOS XE 17.9.4 or later.

Q: What can I plug into the SFP port?
A: The SFP port accepts copper modules at 100M/1G/10G mGig or fibre modules at 1G/10G.

Q: How do I keep the IP67 rating when cabling it?
A: PG 13.5 glands or M12 converters are required on the Ethernet and power interfaces to maintain the IP67 rating.

Q: What is the difference between this SKU and other IW9167E variants?
A: This is the Rest of the World regulatory domain model with Wi-Fi (AP) software and 8 RF ports with external antennas. Other regulatory domains and the WGB or URWB images are separate variants.
