Description

The HyperFlex HX240c M6 is a 2-socket, 2RU all-flash hyperconverged node built on 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake) processors. This All Flash SFF variant uses a 24-drive front backplane with SAS/SATA SSD capacity drives and an NVMe caching drive. It suits storage-intensive virtual server and VDI workloads, as well as data centre, edge and branch deployments that need high-capacity flash storage.

Each node takes one or two Ice Lake processors and 16 DIMM slots for RDIMMs or LRDIMMs from 16 GB to 256 GB. Storage runs through a Cisco 12G Modular SAS pass-through HBA, with 6 to 28 capacity drives per node when rear bays are used, plus a caching SSD, a system drive and an M.2 SATA boot drive. Up to 8 PCIe slots are available, 2 of them GPU-capable, and the mLOM slot accepts a Cisco UCS VIC 1467 quad-port 25G or VIC 1477 dual-port 100G adapter. Onboard connectivity includes 2 x 10GBase-T LOM ports and a 1GbE management port. Hot-swap 1050W, 1600W or 2300W power supplies give 1+1 redundancy with a second unit.

Nodes are deployed as a cluster of three or more with Cisco UCS 6300 or 6400 series fabric interconnects and managed through Cisco Intersight. The HyperFlex HX Data Platform runs as a subscription licence, and hypervisor and operating system licences are separate.

Q: What software licensing does this node need?
A: It needs Cisco HyperFlex HX Data Platform software on a subscription (Data Center) licence and is managed through Cisco Intersight. The licence is not part of the hardware SKU. Hypervisor and operating system licences, such as VMware vSphere or Windows Server, are ordered separately.

Q: How many nodes are required for a cluster?
A: HyperFlex nodes are deployed as a cluster of three or more, connected through Cisco UCS 6300 or 6400 series fabric interconnects.

Q: What power supply options does the node support?
A: It takes one or two hot-swap PSUs in 1050W AC, 1050W DC, 1600W AC or 2300W AC. A second identical PSU gives 1+1 redundancy. The 1050W AC unit is limited to 800W at low-line input (100-127V).
