Description

The HyperFlex Express HX220c M6 is a 1RU hyperconverged server node from the Cisco HyperFlex HX-Series, built on 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake) processors. It suits general-purpose hyperconverged deployments such as server virtualisation, VDI, databases including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and SAP, and cloud computing, in data centre and edge sites where rack space is limited.

This SKU is the hybrid configuration, pairing a 480GB SATA SSD cache drive (HX-SD480G63X-EP) with a 2.4TB 10K rpm HDD for data (HXE-HD24TB10K4KN). Default memory is 256GB (4 x HX-MR-X64G2RW), scalable to 8TB using 32 x 256GB DDR4 DIMMs. Housekeeping and boot drives are HX-SD240GM1X-EV and HX-M2-240GB, and the mLOM is the HX-M-V25-04 VIC. Each node provides dual 10Gbps Ethernet ports and a 1GbE management port, with 1050W, 1600W or 2300W hot-pluggable power supplies in 1+1 redundancy and eight hot-swap fans.

Nodes are deployed as a cluster of three or more, connected to a pair of Cisco UCS 6300 or 6400 series fabric interconnects and managed through Cisco Intersight. The Cisco HyperFlex HX Data Platform software is required.

FAQs

Q: Does this node need software licensing?
A: Yes. Cisco HyperFlex HX Data Platform software, supplied as a software subscription with a data centre licence, is required to run the node as part of a HyperFlex cluster.

Q: What does the node connect to?
A: It is deployed in a cluster of three or more nodes connected to a pair of Cisco UCS 6300 or 6400 series fabric interconnects.

Q: What power supplies does it use?
A: It takes one or two hot-pluggable power supplies in 1050W, 1600W or 2300W ratings. Fitting a second supply provides 1+1 redundancy.

Q: How does this SKU differ from other HX220c M6 nodes?
A: This is the hybrid configuration, with a 480GB SATA SSD cache and a 2.4TB 10K rpm HDD for data, and 256GB of default memory. All-flash and NVMe variants use different drive configurations.

Q: Which network adapters and rail kits are supported?
A: Supported PCIe NICs include the Intel i350, X710 and XXV810 families, alongside the Cisco UCS VIC 1467 or 1477 mLOM. Cisco ball-bearing and friction rail kits are both supported.
