Description

The HyperFlex HX220c M6 All NVMe is a 1RU hyperconverged server node built on 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake) processors. It suits data centre and edge hyperconverged infrastructure, and clusters can connect to Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnects or directly to existing switches.

This All NVMe variant supports up to 10 front SFF NVMe PCIe SSDs only, with 6 to 8 drives for capacity, 1 for caching and 1 system drive for HXDP operations. This separates it from the HXAF220C-M6S All Flash and HX220C-M6S Hybrid nodes. It takes one or two CPUs with up to 40 cores each, although two CPUs are required when NVMe drives are selected. There are 32 DDR4 3200 MHz DIMM slots, supporting up to 4 TB of DDR4 or up to 10 TB with Intel Optane PMem. Networking includes 2 x 10GBASE-T LOM ports, a 1GbE management port and an mLOM slot for a Cisco UCS VIC 1467 or VIC 1477. The chassis offers up to three half-height or two full-height PCIe Gen4 x16 slots.

The node is hardware only and needs a HyperFlex Data Platform subscription (Data Center Advantage or Premier). Hot-swap PSUs of 1050 W, 1600 W or 2300 W are selectable for 1+1 redundancy, and management is through Cisco Intersight and CIMC 4.2(1) or later. The All NVMe node without Fabric Interconnect requires HXDP 5.0(1b) or higher.

Q: Does it need a licence or subscription?
A: Yes. The node is hardware only and requires a Cisco HyperFlex Data Platform subscription, Data Center Advantage or Premier, for 1 to 5 years. Cisco Intersight is also available as SaaS or a virtual appliance.

Q: How does it differ from the HXAF220C-M6S and HX220C-M6S?
A: This SKU is the All NVMe node with up to 10 NVMe SSDs. The HXAF220C-M6S is the All Flash variant and the HX220C-M6S is the Hybrid variant.

Q: What power supply does it use?
A: You choose up to two hot-swap PSUs: 1050 W AC, 1050 W V2 DC, 1600 W AC or 2300 W AC. One is mandatory and a second provides 1+1 redundancy. The 1050 W AC unit is limited to 800 W output at 100-127 V input.

Q: Which network adapters does it support?
A: The mLOM slot takes a Cisco UCS VIC 1467 (quad 10/25G) or VIC 1477 (dual 40/100G). In NIC mode, Intel X710 and Cisco-Intel E810 PCIe NICs are supported.

Q: What software version is required?
A: CIMC 4.2(1) or later is required. The All NVMe node without Fabric Interconnect needs HXDP 5.0(1b) or higher, and NIC connectivity mode needs HXDP 5.0(2a) or later.
