Description

The HyperFlex HX220c M6 All Flash Node is a 1RU hyperconverged server node built on 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake) processors. It is designed to run as part of a cluster of three or more nodes under the Cisco HyperFlex HX Data Platform, giving data centres and edge sites a high-performance all-flash building block in a small footprint.

This All Flash variant uses SAS/SATA SSDs for the capacity layer, with 3 to 8 capacity drives per node and a self-encrypting SSD option. Each node takes one or two Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs and up to 8 TB of DDR4 memory using 32 x 256 GB DIMMs, or up to 12 TB with 16 x 256 GB DIMMs plus 16 x 512 GB Intel PMem modules. A Cisco 12-Gbps Modular SAS HBA handles storage connectivity and an M.2 SATA SSD is used for boot.

Networking is provided through a Cisco UCS VIC 1467 or VIC 1477 mLOM, and PCIe expansion supports up to 3 half-height or 1 to 2 full-height risers, including up to 3 optional NVIDIA T4 GPUs. Power options are 1050W, 1600W or 2300W hot-swap supplies with 8 hot-swappable fans. It requires the Cisco HyperFlex HX Data Platform software subscription.

FAQs

Q: What software or licensing does this node need?
A: It requires the Cisco HyperFlex HX Data Platform software subscription (Data Center licence). Cisco Intersight is used for cloud-based management.

Q: How is this All Flash node different from the Hybrid HX220c M6?
A: The All Flash model uses SAS/SATA SSDs for the capacity layer, with 3 to 8 SSD capacity drives per node. The Hybrid sibling is HX220C-M6S and the All NVMe sibling is HXAF220C-M6SN.

Q: Which power supplies can be used?
A: One or two hot-pluggable power supplies in 1050W, 1600W or 2300W options. A second supply provides 1+1 redundancy.

Q: Which network cards are supported?
A: The mLOM is a Cisco UCS VIC 1467 or VIC 1477, and the VIC 1477 provides 2 x 100G to UCS 6300 Series Fabric Interconnects. PCIe NICs include Intel i350, X710 and XXV810 variants.

Q: Can it take GPUs?
A: Yes. Up to 3 NVIDIA T4 Tensor Core GPUs can be fitted per node as an option.

Q: Does it need a second CPU?
A: A 2-CPU configuration is required when using NVMe caching drives or All NVMe systems. The standard SAS SSD caching setup can run with one or two CPUs.
