Description

The HyperFlex HX240c M5 All Flash Node is a 2RU hyperconverged server node for the Cisco HyperFlex HX-Series. It combines dual-socket compute, an all-SSD cache and capacity tier and the HX Data Platform software-defined storage in one node, and suits virtualised data centre workloads, VSI and VDI in a scale-out cluster.

This configuration is built on 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with 24 DIMM slots supporting DDR4-2933 RDIMM, LRDIMM and Intel Optane PMem. It provides up to 23 SATA/SAS SSD capacity drives, one SATA SSD system drive and one cache drive, either a rear NVMe SSD or a SATA/SAS SSD. An M.2 SATA SSD handles hypervisor boot. Networking is a Cisco VIC 1387 dual-port 40Gb QSFP mLOM, plus two 10GBASE-T LOM ports and a 1GbE dedicated management port. Two hot-swap power supplies give 1+1 redundancy, and six hot-swap fans provide front-to-rear cooling.

It works with Fabric Interconnects HX-FI-6248UP, HX-FI-6296UP, HX-FI-6332 and HX-FI-6332-16UP, or can be deployed without a Fabric Interconnect on HyperFlex 4.5(2a) onwards. It requires a Cisco HyperFlex Data Platform subscription (Datacenter Advantage or Datacenter Premier) and is managed through Cisco Intersight, CIMC or UCS Manager.

Q: Does the HX240c M5 All Flash Node need a software licence?
A: Yes. It requires a Cisco HyperFlex Data Platform subscription, either Datacenter Advantage or Datacenter Premier, ordered separately. The hypervisor or host OS is also selected separately.

Q: How many power supplies does this configuration have?
A: This configuration has two hot-swap power supplies, giving 1+1 redundancy. Supported types are 1050 W AC/DC, 1050 W AC ELV and 1600 W AC.

Q: Which Fabric Interconnects does it work with?
A: It works with the HX-FI-6248UP, HX-FI-6296UP, HX-FI-6332 and HX-FI-6332-16UP. 10G QSAs are available for the 6200 series with the VIC 1387. From HyperFlex 4.5(2a) onwards it can also be deployed without a Fabric Interconnect.

Q: How many drives does the node support?

Q: Is the node suitable for GPU or extra network cards?
