Description

The Secure Firewall 6100 8-port 1000Base-T hardware bypass network module adds copper Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to Cisco Secure Firewall 6100 series chassis. It suits inline deployments, such as IPS or firewall placement in the data path, where traffic must keep passing on copper 1GbE links if the firewall fails or loses power.

The module provides eight RJ-45 1000Base-T ports arranged as four hardware bypass pairs: ports 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, and 7 and 8. When a failure event occurs, traffic is routed straight to the paired port without being processed by the firewall. Four bypass status LEDs (B1 to B4) show standby in green and flash amber when a pair is in bypass mode, and each port has left and right link and activity LEDs. The copper ports need no SFP transceivers.

It installs in network module slot NM-2 or NM-3 on the front panel of the Secure Firewall 6160 and 6170 chassis and is powered from the chassis. It works with Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense and Cisco Secure ASA software, and the correct firmware package and software release must be installed to support the module.
