Description

This network module adds two QSFP28 ports to the Cisco Secure Firewall 6100 Series, covering the CSF6160 and CSF6170 chassis. It suits high-throughput data centre and campus edge firewalling where 40G or 100G uplinks are needed, or where 10G and 25G interfaces are required through breakout cables.

Each of the two ports runs at 40 Gbps or 100 Gbps, giving a maximum of 200 Gbps full duplex when both ports operate at 100 Gbps. A 100G port can be split into four 10G or four 25G interfaces using supported breakout cables. The ports are named Ethernet 2/1 and 2/2 in slot NM-2, or 3/1 and 3/2 in slot NM-3. The module itself needs no licence, as Threat Defense or ASA software licensing applies to the host chassis. It is supported from Threat Defense 10.0 and ASA 9.24.

Genuine supported 100G optics and cables include QSFP-100G-SR4-S, QSFP-100G-LR4-S, QSFP-100G-AOCxM and QSFP-100G-CUxM. Supported 40G options include QSFP-40G-SR4, QSFP-40G-LR4-S and QSFP-H40G-CUxM.
