FAQs

Q: What power supply is included with the CCS-722XPM-48Y4-F?
A: The switch ships with one 1050W AC power supply by default (PWR-1021-AC-RED with front-to-rear airflow). A second power supply can be added for redundancy and to increase total PoE capacity from 967W to 1860W. The switch supports 650W, 1050W, 2000W AC or 500W DC power supplies.

Q: Does this switch require any software licenses to operate?
A: The base feature set of Arista EOS comes bundled with the switch and includes essential Layer 2 and Layer 3 capabilities. Advanced feature licenses such as FLX-Lite for full routing, EVPN, and VXLAN are available separately for enhanced functionality. Arista CloudVision management is available as a monthly subscription.

Q: Can this switch be used for PoE-powered access points and IP phones?
A: Yes, the CCS-722XPM-48Y4-F is ideal for powering access points, IP phones, and IoT devices. All 48 ports deliver 802.3at PoE+ with 30W per port, providing up to 967W total PoE budget with a single 1050W power supply, sufficient for high-density wireless and VoIP deployments.

Q: What is the difference between the -F and -2F model suffixes?
A: The -F suffix indicates the switch ships with one power supply, while -2F models include two power supplies for immediate redundancy and higher PoE capacity. The -F suffix also denotes front-to-rear airflow design. Both configurations support field-upgradeable redundant power.

Q: What routing protocols and Layer 3 features does this switch support?
A: The switch supports advanced routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, and RIP-2, along with Layer 2 features like 802.1w Rapid Spanning Tree and 802.1s Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol. With optional FLX-Lite licensing, it supports full routing with up to 32,000 routes, EVPN, and VXLAN for software-defined campus architectures.
