FAQs

Q: What PoE standard does the CCS-722XPM-48Y4-2R support?
A: The switch supports IEEE 802.3af/at PoE/PoE+ with 30W per port across all 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports, providing up to 967W PoE budget with a single 1050W power supply or up to 1,860W with dual power supplies.

Q: What is the difference between the -2R and -2F suffix models?
A: The -2R suffix indicates rear-to-front airflow with dual power supplies, while -2F indicates front-to-rear airflow with dual power supplies. The airflow direction should match your data center hot/cold aisle design for optimal cooling efficiency.

Q: Does this switch support Layer 3 routing?
A: Yes, the 722XPM-48Y4 supports Layer 3 routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, and RIP-2. Advanced features such as EVPN, VXLAN, and VRFs may require additional feature licenses through Arista's FlexRoute or FlexAdvance license packages.

Q: What makes this a cognitive campus switch?
A: The 722XPM Series integrates with Arista CloudVision for advanced telemetry, FlowTracker for real-time device and application flow monitoring, device fingerprinting, and automated network configuration. It tracks over 1,000 concurrent flows per switch with hardware support for up to 32K flows.

Q: Is MACsec encryption included or does it require a license?
A: MACsec 256-bit AES encryption is built into the switch hardware and supported on all ports at line rate (50 Gbps downlinks, 50 Gbps uplinks), providing end-to-end encryption for secure campus deployments.
