FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the M-S and standard 96ZC2 models?
A: The M-S designation indicates expanded memory (8GB DRAM vs 4GB) and enhanced storage for larger routing tables, advanced telemetry, and more demanding campus use cases.

Q: How many devices can this switch power with full PoE?
A: With 1722W total PoE budget across 96 PoE+ ports, you can power approximately 19-28 devices at 60-90W (802.3bt), or 57-114 devices at 15-30W (802.3af/at), depending on power allocation.

Q: Is Arista CloudVision management required?
A: No, the switch can be managed via CLI, web GUI, SNMP, or NetConf. CloudVision is optional and provides advanced cognitive campus services including telemetry, analytics, and automation.

Q: What uplink speeds are supported on the SFP and QSFP ports?
A: The 4x SFP ports support 1G, 10G, and 25G transceivers. The 2x QSFP ports support 40G and 100G transceivers. Multi-rate SFP28 optics allow 10G or 25G operation for migration flexibility.

Q: What is the intended deployment scenario for this model?
A: This 96-port model is designed for high-density campus aggregation layers, building distribution closets, or IoT/PoE-heavy deployments requiring multi-gigabit access and high PoE capacity with enterprise-grade redundancy.
