FAQs

Q: What is the maximum PoE budget available on the WS-C3650-48FS-E?
A: The WS-C3650-48FS-E provides 775W of PoE power for connected devices from the included 1025W power supply. You can add a second 1025W power supply for redundancy and additional PoE capacity to support high-density PoE deployments.

Q: Can this switch be stacked with other Catalyst 3650 models?
A: Yes, the WS-C3650-48FS-E supports optional StackWise-160 technology. You can stack up to 9 Catalyst 3650 switches using optional stacking modules (C3650-STACK-KIT), providing 160 Gbps of stacking bandwidth and unified management.

Q: What routing protocols are supported with the IP Services feature set?
A: The IP Services feature set includes advanced Layer 3 routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IS-IS, RIP, static routing, policy-based routing, and multicast protocols including PIM-SM, PIM-DM, and PIM-SSM for both IPv4 and IPv6.

Q: Is the WS-C3650-48FS-E suitable for wireless controller deployments?
A: Yes, the Catalyst 3650 Series features built-in wireless controller capabilities supporting up to 50 access points per switch or stack. It converges wired and wireless management on a single platform with unified policy enforcement across both domains.

Q: What is the difference between the 48FS and 48PS models?
A: The 48FS models ship with a 1025W power supply and provide 775W PoE budget out-of-the-box for full PoE+ on all 48 ports. The 48PS models ship with a 640W supply and provide partial PoE; a second supply or upgrade is needed for full PoE across all ports.
