FAQs

Q: Does the WS-C3650-24TD-S support Power over Ethernet?
A: No, the WS-C3650-24TD-S is a data-only model and does not support PoE. For PoE requirements, consider the WS-C3650-24PD-S model which provides PoE+ on all 24 ports.

Q: What is the difference between IP Base and IP Services feature sets?
A: IP Base provides baseline Layer 3 routing including static routing, RIP, and basic OSPF, plus wireless controller functionality. IP Services adds advanced routing protocols such as full OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, PIM, and full IPv6 routing. You can upgrade from IP Base to IP Services via software license.

Q: Can this switch be stacked with Catalyst 3850 switches?
A: No, the Catalyst 3650 Series cannot be stacked with Catalyst 3850 switches. Stacking is only supported within the same series. Additionally, switches in a stack must use the same feature set (all IP Base, all IP Services, or all LAN Base).

Q: What uplink options are available on the WS-C3650-24TD-S?
A: The switch includes 2 x 10G SFP+ uplink ports or optionally 4 x 1G SFP ports, providing flexible high-speed connectivity to distribution or core layers. The uplink configuration is field-selectable.

Q: Does the IP Base license support inter-VLAN routing?
A: Yes, the IP Base feature set supports inter-VLAN routing with static routing, RIP, and basic OSPF capabilities, eliminating the need for an external router in many enterprise deployment scenarios.
