Description

The Catalyst 2960-Plus 24TC-L is a fixed-configuration Fast Ethernet Layer 2 access switch built for branch offices, remote sites and retail locations, conventional desktop workspaces, and building infrastructure or physical security devices. It is a non-PoE model aimed at cost-effective wired access.

It provides 24 x 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports plus 2 dual-purpose uplinks that take either an SFP module or 1000BASE-T. Forwarding bandwidth is 16 Gbps with a forwarding rate of 6.5 Mpps on 64-byte Layer 3 packets. It supports up to 255 active VLANs from 4K VLAN IDs, and carries 64 MB of flash and 128 MB of DRAM. It ships with the Cisco IOS LAN Base feature set, which is tied to the hardware model, so no separate licence is needed.

Power comes from an internal AC supply, auto-ranging 100 to 240 VAC, with measured consumption of about 18.4 W at idle. An RPS connector supports the optional Cisco RPS 2300 (PWR-RPS2300). It is a 1RU rackmount unit weighing 3.6 kg.

FAQs

Q: Does this switch need a separate licence?
A: No. It ships with the Cisco IOS LAN Base feature set, which is tied to the hardware model. LAN Base and LAN Lite are model-specific, so a LAN Lite (-S) model cannot be upgraded to LAN Base.

Q: Does the WS-C2960+24TC-L support PoE?
A: No. This is a non-PoE model and provides no PoE power budget. Powered devices need a separate power source or a PoE injector.

Q: What can be used in the two uplink ports?
A: The 2 dual-purpose uplinks accept SFP modules or 1000BASE-T. Check the Cisco transceiver compatibility matrix for supported SFP modules.

Q: Can it be connected to a redundant power system?
