Description

The Catalyst ESS9300 Embedded Series is a ruggedised XMC+ (VITA 88) mezzanine switch card for defence and military embedded systems. This SKU plugs into the Curtiss-Wright VPX3-623 3U OpenVPX carrier module and is aligned with SOSA and CMOSS architectures. It suits mobile ground and airborne tactical data centres, JADC2 and JWCC network integration, and C5ISR and EW systems.

The card provides eight 10G interfaces, made up of two 10GBASE-KR control plane interfaces and six fixed optical 10GBASE-SR interfaces on the rear VPX connector. It also provides sixteen 1000BASE-T ports, of which ten are usable on the VPX3-623 carrier. It forwards at line rate on all ports and packet sizes, and supports 8 queues, 16,000 MAC addresses, 1000 VLAN IDs and 32 VRFs. This SKU is the North America variant and ships with Layer 2 and Layer 3 features, including the Network Advantage feature set.

Power is drawn from the carrier at 3.3VDC and +12VDC, with typical consumption under 35W depending on carrier configuration. Industrial-grade components are rated from -40 to 85 C, and the card measures 130 x 74 mm and weighs under 200 g. It runs Cisco IOS XE with the familiar Cisco CLI and a built-in WebUI.
