Description

The Cisco Embedded Services 3300 (ESS 3300) is a board-level Ethernet switch for OEMs and integrators building custom rugged solutions. This SKU pairs the ESS 3300 mainboard with the 16-port expansion board to give a 24-port configuration, with no cooling plate, and runs Cisco IOS XE with Network Essentials software.

The mainboard provides 2 x 1G/10G SFP+ uplink ports (copper or fibre), 4 x 1G combo ports and 4 x 10/100/1000BASE-T ports. The expansion board adds 4 x 1G combo ports and 12 x 10/100/1000BASE-T ports. Forwarding is line rate on all ports and packet sizes, with 4 GB DDR4 DRAM, 4 GB onboard eMMC flash and RS-232 and USB console access. Typical power draw is 24 W for both boards, from +3.3Vdc and +5Vdc inputs, and the components are rated for -40 to 85 C operation.

It suits tactical data centres, HD video surveillance, transportation, defence, mining and oil and gas deployments where a small, low-power switch must be designed into a custom enclosure. Supported optics include GLC-SX-MM, GLC-LH-SM, GLC-TE, SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR and SFP-H10G-CU1M, and the mainboard and expansion board join over commercially available board-to-board connectors.
