Description

The Catalyst ESS9300 Embedded Series is a ruggedised, small-form-factor 10G switch board for integrators building tactical, outdoor and mobile solutions that need low power, small size and ruggedisation. Typical applications include defence, oil and gas, transportation and mining. It runs Cisco IOS XE and is delivered as a bare board with no cooling plate, so a qualified integrator transforms it into an end product.

The board provides ten 10G/1G SFP+/SFP ports with line-rate forwarding on all ports and all packet sizes, plus a 10/100/1000BASE-T management port and RS-232 and USB console access. It carries 4 GB DDR4 DRAM and 8 GB eMMC flash (2.5 GB usable), measures 110 x 85 mm, weighs 88 g and is rated for -40 to 85 C. Power is supplied by the integrator at 3.3VDC and +5VDC, with typical consumption of 35 W. This SKU ships with the Network Essentials licence, which covers the Layer 2 feature set. Layer 3 routing, VRF and MACsec-256 need the optional Network Advantage upgrade.

It works with approved 1G SFPs and 10G SFP+ optics such as GLC-SX-MM-RGD=, GLC-LX-SM-RGD=, SFP-10G-SR= and SFP-10G-LR=.
