FAQs

Q: What supervisor engines are compatible with the C9610R chassis?
A: The C9610R supports two supervisor options: the C9610-SUP-3 (providing 3.2 Tbps full-duplex per supervisor) and the C9610-SUP-3XL (providing 6.4 Tbps full-duplex per supervisor). Both use Cisco Silicon One E100 or K100 ASICs and support 1+1 redundancy with stateful switchover (SSO) and non-stop forwarding (NSF).

Q: Can I use existing Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series line cards in the C9610R chassis?
A: Yes, the C9610R is backward compatible with current Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series line cards (C9600-LC and C9600X-LC models) when used with the optional C9610-LC-ADPT adapter. The chassis also supports new C9610-optimized line cards such as the C9610-LC-32CD and C9610-LC-40YL4CD.

Q: What power redundancy modes does the C9610R support?
A: The C9610R supports three power modes: Combined mode (all PSUs share load), N+1 redundancy (one standby PSU), and N+N redundancy (even number of PSUs on independent input circuits). For N+N mode with full redundancy, 3000W AC power supplies operating at 220V are required.

Q: What licensing is required for the C9610 Series?
A: The Cisco C9610 Series Smart Switches require Cisco Network Advantage Tier licensing. This is the only tier available for the C9610 platform and includes advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 features, SDN capabilities, and full software image access.

Q: What is the maximum port density I can achieve with the C9610R?
A: Maximum port density depends on the line cards installed. The chassis can support up to 448 native 10/25/50GbE SFP56 ports (or up to 512 SFP ports with QSFP-to-4xSFP breakout cables), up to 256 native 40/100GbE QSFP28 ports, or up to 16 native 400GbE QSFP-DD ports across all eight line card slots.
