FAQs

Q: What is included with the C9500-48X-E bundle?
A: The C9500-48X-E bundle includes the base switch with 40x 10G SFP+ ports, one C9500-NM-8X network module (8x 10G SFP+ ports), one 950W AC power supply, five fan modules with front-to-back airflow, and rack mount hardware. Transceivers are sold separately.

Q: What is the difference between Network Essentials and Network Advantage licensing?
A: The C9500-48X-E comes with Network Essentials licensing, which includes Layer 3 routing, security features like MACsec and TrustSec, and basic SD-Access support. Network Advantage adds advanced features such as full SD-Access capabilities, Cisco DNA Center integration, and enhanced automation tools.

Q: Can I add additional uplink modules to the C9500-48X-E?
A: The C9500-48X-E supports up to two network modules. One C9500-NM-8X module is included in the bundle. You can add a second network module such as another C9500-NM-8X or a C9500-NM-2Q (2x 40G QSFP+) for additional uplink capacity.

Q: Does the C9500-48X-E support PoE?
A: No, the C9500-48X-E does not support Power over Ethernet. This is a non-PoE switch designed for core and aggregation layer deployments where connected devices have independent power sources or are fed by access-layer PoE switches.

Q: What stacking and high availability features does this switch support?
A: The C9500-48X-E supports StackWise Virtual technology, allowing two switches to operate as a single logical unit with enhanced redundancy. It also supports dual redundant power supplies, stateful switchover (SSO), nonstop forwarding (NSF), and ISSU for software upgrades without service interruption.
