FAQs

Q: What uplink modules are compatible with the C9500-40X-E?
A: The C9500-40X-E supports optional network modules including the C9500-NM-8X (8-port 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP/SFP+) and C9500-NM-2Q (2-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+) for additional uplink capacity.

Q: Does this switch support PoE?
A: No, the C9500-40X-E is a non-PoE switch designed for high-speed data connectivity only. All 40 ports are 10G SFP+ uplink-style ports without Power over Ethernet capability.

Q: What is the difference between Network Essentials and Network Advantage licenses?
A: Network Essentials provides core Layer 2/3 routing features, secure boot, and MACsec encryption. Network Advantage adds advanced routing protocols (OSPFv3, BGP), SD-Access, TrustSec, and enhanced automation capabilities.

Q: How does StackWise Virtual work on this switch?
A: StackWise Virtual allows you to combine two C9500-40X-E switches into a single logical unit for redundancy and simplified management, using high-speed Ethernet connections rather than dedicated stacking cables.

Q: What deployment scenarios is the C9500-40X-E best suited for?
A: This switch is ideal for enterprise campus core and distribution layers, data center aggregation, high-density server access environments, and any deployment requiring high-performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity with advanced Layer 3 capabilities.
