FAQs

Q: What is the total port count and configuration of the C9500-24X-E?
A: The C9500-24X-E provides 24 x 10G SFP+ ports total: 16 fixed ports on the base switch plus 8 additional ports via the included C9500-NM-8X network module. All ports support 1G or 10G SFP/SFP+ optics.

Q: Does this switch support Power over Ethernet?
A: No, the C9500-24X-E does not support PoE. It is designed for core and aggregation layer deployments connecting to distribution switches and servers, not for powering end devices like IP phones or access points.

Q: What network modules are compatible with the C9500-24X-E?
A: The C9500-24X-E supports two network module options for uplinks: the C9500-NM-8X (8 x 10G SFP+, typically included) and the C9500-NM-2Q (2 x 40G QSFP+). Only one module can be installed at a time.

Q: What is the difference between Network Essentials and Network Advantage licenses?
A: Network Essentials provides Layer 2/3 routing, security features, and basic automation. Network Advantage adds advanced capabilities like MPLS, advanced QoS, MACsec encryption, SD-Access fabric features, and Flexible NetFlow for enterprises requiring comprehensive campus networking.

Q: Can the C9500-24X-E be used in a stacked configuration?
A: Yes, the C9500-24X-E supports StackWise Virtual technology, allowing two switches to operate as a single logical unit with up to 160 Gbps stack bandwidth. This provides high availability and simplified management for campus core deployments.
