FAQs

Q: What is the difference between Network Advantage and DNA Advantage licenses?
A: Network Advantage includes full Layer 3 routing, advanced security features like MACsec and TrustSec, and on-box network management. DNA Advantage adds Cisco DNA Center capabilities including SD-Access, Encrypted Traffic Analytics, Group-Based Policy, and centralized automation and assurance features.

Q: Can this switch stack with other Catalyst 9300 models?
A: The C9300LM can stack with other C9300L and C9300LM fixed-uplink models using the optional StackWise-320 kit. It cannot stack with modular-uplink C9300 or C9300X models, nor with Catalyst 3850/3650 switches. Mixed stacking requires switches to have the same license level.

Q: What is the maximum PoE capacity with dual power supplies?
A: With the default 1000W power supply, the PoE budget is 790W. By adding a second 1000W power supply, the total PoE budget can be expanded to 1,790W, enabling full UPOE delivery across all 48 ports simultaneously.

Q: Does this model support Software-Defined Access (SD-Access)?
A: Yes, the DNA Advantage license included with this SKU enables full SD-Access fabric capabilities, including automated network segmentation, group-based policies, and integration with Cisco DNA Center for simplified deployment and management.

Q: What type of devices can be powered with UPOE?
A: UPOE delivers up to 60W per port, sufficient for high-power devices such as Wi-Fi 6 access points, PTZ cameras, video conferencing endpoints, thin clients, building automation systems, and LED lighting. It supports IEEE 802.3bt Type 3 and Cisco proprietary UPOE standards.
