FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the 12 multi-gig ports and the 36 standard ports?
A: The 12 multi-gig ports support 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G Ethernet speeds, ideal for high-bandwidth devices like Wi-Fi 6/6E access points. The remaining 36 ports support standard 10M/100M/1G Ethernet, suitable for IP phones, cameras, and general access devices. All 48 ports support UPOE (up to 60W per port).

Q: Can this switch be stacked with other Catalyst 9300 models?
A: The C9300L-48UXG-4X-A can be stacked with other C9300L models using the optional StackWise-320 kit (sold separately). However, it cannot be stacked with modular uplink C9300 or C9300X models, or older Catalyst 3850/3650 switches. StackWise-320 provides 320 Gbps of stacking bandwidth and supports up to 8 switches per stack.

Q: What software license is included, and what features does Network Advantage provide?
A: The Network Advantage license is included and provides full Layer 3 routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VRF-Lite), MACsec encryption, flexible NetFlow, advanced QoS, Cisco SD-Access support, and embedded wireless controller capability for up to 50 access points. It runs Cisco IOS XE Release 16.11.1b or later.

Q: How much PoE power can this switch deliver, and does it support UPOE?
A: The switch provides 675W of available PoE budget with the default 1100W AC power supply (PWR-C1-1100WAC-P). All 48 ports support UPOE (802.3bt Type 3) up to 60W per port, as well as PoE+ (802.3at) and standard PoE (802.3af). A second power supply can be added for redundancy and increased PoE capacity.

Q: Is this switch suitable for Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E deployments?
A: Yes, the 12 multi-gigabit ports are specifically designed to support high-bandwidth Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E access points that require 2.5G, 5G, or 10G uplinks. The UPOE capability ensures sufficient power for high-performance APs, and the embedded wireless controller can manage up to 50 access points directly from the switch.
