FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the standard Gigabit and Multigigabit ports on this switch?
A: The C9300L-48UXG-2Q-A features 36 standard Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000) and 12 Multigigabit ports that auto-negotiate at 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G speeds. The Multigigabit ports are ideal for high-bandwidth devices like Wi-Fi 6/6E access points and can deliver up to 10 Gbps over existing Cat5e/6 cabling, eliminating the need for costly cable upgrades.

Q: Does this switch support stacking, and what accessories are required?
A: Yes, the C9300L-48UXG-2Q-A supports StackWise-320 stacking with 320 Gbps of stacking bandwidth. However, stacking ports are not included by default. You must purchase the optional C9300L-STACK-KIT (or C9300L-STACK-KIT2) for each switch you plan to stack. This kit includes two stacking adapters and a stacking cable. Up to 8 units can be stacked together. Note that C9300L models can only stack with other C9300L/LM models, not with modular C9300 or C9300X switches.

Q: What is the total PoE budget, and can I increase it?
A: With the default 1100W AC power supply, the switch provides 675W of available PoE power across all 48 UPOE ports (up to 60W per port). You can increase the PoE budget by adding a second power supply in the redundant power supply slot. With dual 1100W power supplies, the available PoE increases to 1775W, enabling simultaneous high-power delivery to all ports.

Q: What advanced features are included with the Network Advantage license?
A: Network Advantage includes full Layer 3 routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), advanced security features (MACsec encryption, TrustSec), flexible NetFlow for traffic analytics, SD-Access architecture support, QoS, and an embedded Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controller that supports up to 50 access points. This license tier is designed for enterprise campus deployments requiring robust routing, security, and wireless integration.

Q: Is this switch compatible with Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E access points?
A: Absolutely. The 12 Multigigabit UPOE ports are specifically designed to support high-bandwidth Wi-Fi 6/6E access points, delivering both data (up to 10 Gbps) and power (up to 60W UPOE) over a single cable. The embedded wireless controller simplifies AP management, and the switch supports Perpetual PoE and Fast PoE to minimize disruption during reboots.
