FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the 16 standard ports and 8 Multigigabit ports?
A: The 16 standard ports operate at 10/100/1000 Mbps with UPoE (up to 90W per port), while the 8 Multigigabit ports support auto-negotiation at 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G speeds, ideal for connecting high-speed Wi-Fi 6/6E access points and other bandwidth-intensive devices.

Q: Can this switch be stacked with other Catalyst 9300 models?
A: Yes, but only with other Catalyst 9300L Series fixed uplink models using the optional StackWise-320 kit. It cannot be stacked with modular uplink models (C9300/C9300X) or Catalyst 3850/3650 Series switches. Up to 8 switches can be stacked together.

Q: What is the maximum PoE budget and does it require a specific power supply?
A: The switch provides up to 722W PoE budget when using the included PWR-C1-1100WAC-P power supply. For higher PoE requirements up to 1,440W, a second power supply can be added. The switch supports UPoE (up to 90W per port) on all 24 ports.

Q: What software license is included with the Network Essentials version?
A: The Network Essentials license includes Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing, basic security features, QoS, and network management capabilities. For advanced features like SD-Access, MACsec encryption, and enhanced security, upgrade to Network Advantage or Network Premier licenses.

Q: Is this switch suitable for supporting Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E access points?
A: Yes, the 8 Multigigabit ports with speeds up to 10G make it ideal for connecting high-bandwidth Wi-Fi 6/6E access points. The UPoE capability ensures sufficient power delivery for enterprise-grade wireless access points while the dual 40G uplinks provide ample aggregation bandwidth.
