FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the 16 standard ports and 8 multigigabit ports?
A: The C9300L-24UXG-2Q-A has 16 ports that support 10/100/1000 speeds and 8 mGig ports that auto-negotiate 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G speeds. The mGig ports are ideal for connecting Wi-Fi 6/6E access points and high-bandwidth devices, while the standard ports support traditional gigabit Ethernet devices. All 24 ports support UPOE power delivery.

Q: Can this switch be stacked with other Catalyst 9300 models?
A: The C9300L can only be stacked with other C9300L and C9300LM fixed-uplink models using the optional StackWise-320 kit. It cannot stack with modular uplink models (C9300/C9300X) or older switches like the Catalyst 3850/3650 Series. Up to 8 switches can be stacked for 320 Gbps of stacking bandwidth.

Q: What is included with Network Advantage licensing?
A: Network Advantage provides full Layer 3 routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), VRF-Lite, advanced security features including MACsec encryption and TrustSec, VXLAN overlays, and enhanced QoS. It also includes advanced management via NETCONF, RESTCONF, and integration with Cisco DNA Center for automation and analytics.

Q: How much PoE power can this switch deliver?
A: With the default 1100W AC power supply, the switch provides 722W PoE budget. By adding a second redundant 1100W power supply, the total PoE budget increases to 1440W. The switch supports Cisco UPOE (Universal PoE) on all 24 ports, capable of delivering up to 60W per port for high-power devices.

Q: Is a Cisco DNA subscription required?
A: Yes, Catalyst 9300 Series switches require a mandatory Cisco DNA software subscription (available in 3, 5, or 7-year terms) for access to advanced features, security updates, and management capabilities. The Network Advantage license tier is included with the -A SKU and provides comprehensive Layer 3 and security features.
