FAQs

Q: What is the difference between Network Essentials and Network Advantage licensing?
A: Network Essentials includes foundational Layer 3 routing (OSPF, static routing), basic security features, and Encrypted Traffic Analytics. Network Advantage adds advanced routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP), advanced QoS, and full SD-Access support. You can upgrade from Essentials to Advantage via a license upgrade.

Q: Can I stack this switch with other Catalyst 9300 models?
A: The C9300L-24P-4G-E can only stack with other C9300L fixed-uplink models at the same license level. It cannot stack with modular-uplink C9300 or C9300X models, or with older Catalyst 3850/3650 switches. Up to 8 C9300L switches can form a single stack using optional StackWise-320 kit.

Q: How much PoE power can this switch deliver to connected devices?
A: With the default 715W power supply, the switch provides 505W of PoE budget. By adding a secondary power supply (715W, 1100W, or 350W), you can increase the available PoE to 720W, enabling full 30W PoE+ on all 24 ports simultaneously for power-hungry devices like access points and cameras.

Q: Is this switch suitable for Wi-Fi 6 access point deployments?
A: Yes, the C9300L-24P-4G-E is optimized for high-density wireless deployments. Each PoE+ port delivers up to 30W, sufficient for most Wi-Fi 6 access points. The 1G uplinks and switching capacity handle the aggregated traffic from multiple APs, making it ideal for small to medium enterprise wireless access layer.

Q: What redundancy features does this switch offer?
A: The C9300L-24P-4G-E supports dual field-replaceable power supplies for power redundancy, three field-replaceable fans with N+1 redundancy, and when stacked with StackWise-320, provides control plane redundancy with sub-50ms failover via NSF/SSO (Stateful Switchover).
