FAQs

Q: Does the C9300-48UB-E include uplink modules?
A: No, the switch ships without network modules. You must purchase optional uplink modules separately, such as C9300-NM-4G (4x1G SFP), C9300-NM-8X (8x10G SFP+), or C9300-NM-2Q (2x40G QSFP+). Legacy Catalyst 3850 network modules are also compatible.

Q: What is the deep buffer feature and why is it important?
A: The C9300-48UB-E includes a 64MB packet buffer, significantly larger than standard models (32MB). This deep buffer architecture improves burst absorption and reduces packet loss in networks with heavy multimedia traffic, video surveillance, large file transfers, and bursty IoT data flows.

Q: Can I stack the C9300-48UB-E with other Catalyst 9300 models?
A: The C9300-48UB-E is a higher-scale model and must be stacked only with other higher-scale SKUs (C9300-24UB, C9300-24UXB, C9300-48UB). It cannot be mixed with standard C9300 or C9300X models, or with fixed-uplink C9300L models. Use StackWise-480 cables (0.5m, 1m, or 3m lengths).

Q: What is the difference between Network Essentials and Network Advantage?
A: Network Essentials provides Layer 3 routing (OSPF Lite, EIGRP Lite, static routes), basic QoS, VLANs, and hardware ACLs. Network Advantage adds full OSPF/EIGRP/BGP support, policy-based routing, SD-Access segmentation, Cisco DNA Center integration, and advanced security features. Network Essentials is suitable for access layer and basic routing scenarios.

Q: What devices can the UPOE ports power?
A: Each of the 48 ports delivers up to 60W via Cisco Universal PoE (UPOE), supporting Wi-Fi 6/6E access points, PTZ IP cameras, digital signage, VDI terminals, compact switches, video phones, building automation systems, and other high-power devices requiring more than the 30W provided by standard PoE+.
