FAQs

Q: What makes this a 'deep buffer' switch?
A: The C9300-24UB-E features 32 MB of packet buffer memory—double that of standard Catalyst 9300 models. This deep buffer absorbs traffic bursts in multimedia streaming, video surveillance, and IoT environments, preventing packet loss during peak loads and ensuring consistent performance for latency-sensitive applications.

Q: Can this switch be stacked with other Catalyst 9300 models?
A: The C9300-24UB-E supports StackWise-480 stacking but must be stacked only with other higher-scale models (C9300-24UB, C9300-24UXB, C9300-48UB). It cannot be mixed with standard C9300 or C9300L models. Up to 8 higher-scale switches can form a single logical stack with 480 Gbps stacking bandwidth.

Q: What uplink modules are compatible with this switch?
A: The C9300-24UB-E supports all Catalyst 9300 and 3850 network modules including C9300-NM-4G (4x 1G SFP), C9300-NM-8X (8x 10G SFP+), C9300-NM-2Q (2x 40G QSFP), C9300-NM-2Y (2x 25G SFP28), and C9300-NM-4M (4x Multigigabit). The switch ships without a network module; it must be ordered separately.

Q: What is the difference between Network Essentials and Network Advantage?
A: Network Essentials provides Layer 2 switching, basic Layer 3 routing (static routes, RIP), security features, and QoS. Network Advantage adds advanced Layer 3 routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), MPLS, VRF-lite, advanced security (MACsec, TrustSec), and full SD-Access fabric capabilities. The license can be upgraded post-purchase.

Q: How much power can this switch deliver to connected devices?
A: With the default 1100W AC power supply (PWR-C1-1100WAC-P), the switch provides 830W of PoE budget across all 24 UPOE ports. Each port supports up to 60W (802.3bt Type 3), ideal for high-power devices like PTZ cameras, wireless access points, digital building systems, and VDI thin clients. A second power supply can be added for redundancy or increased PoE capacity.
