FAQs

Q: What uplink modules are compatible with the C9300-24U-E?
A: The switch supports Catalyst 9300 and 3850 network modules including C9300-NM-4G (4x1G), C9300-NM-8X (8x10G), C9300-NM-2Q (2x40G), C9300-NM-2T (2x25G), and C9300-NM-4M (4xMultigig). The uplink module is sold separately and must be ordered based on your connectivity requirements.

Q: What is the maximum PoE budget available on this switch?
A: The C9300-24U-E provides 830W PoE budget with the default 1100W power supply. Adding a secondary power supply increases the total PoE budget to 1180W (with 350W PSU), or up to 1440W (with 715W or 1100W secondary PSU).

Q: Can this switch be stacked with other Catalyst 9300 models?
A: Yes, the C9300-24U-E supports StackWise-480 stacking with other C9300 and C9300X modular uplink models (up to 8 switches). It cannot be stacked with C9300L fixed uplink models or higher-scale models (C9300-24UB, C9300-24UXB, C9300-48UB). Mixed stacking with 9300X operates at 480 Gbps speeds.

Q: What features are included with the Network Essentials license?
A: Network Essentials includes Layer 2 switching, basic Layer 3 routing (static routes, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP), VLANs, QoS, security features including MACsec, NetFlow, SNMP, and automation capabilities. It does not include advanced features like SD-Access, Stacking Virtual, or full BGP which require Network Advantage.

Q: What is the difference between UPOE and standard PoE+?
A: UPOE (Universal PoE) delivers up to 60W per port compared to 30W for PoE+ (802.3at). This supports high-power devices like 802.11ac Wave 2 access points, PTZ cameras, digital displays, and advanced IoT endpoints that require more than 30W of power.
