FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the multi-gigabit and standard Gigabit ports?
A: The 12 multi-gigabit ports support auto-negotiation at 100M, 1G, 2.5G, 5G, and 10G speeds over standard copper cabling, making them ideal for connecting high-performance devices like Wi-Fi 6/6E access points. The 36 standard ports support 10/100/1000 speeds. All 48 ports support PoE+ (802.3at) up to 30W per port.

Q: Can I stack this switch with other Catalyst 9200 models?
A: The C9200L-48PXG-4X-E can only be stacked with other C9200L fixed models running the same Network Essentials license level. Mixed stacking with modular C9200 or C9200CX models is not supported. You need the C9200L-STACK-KIT and compatible stacking cables (sold separately) to enable StackWise-80 connectivity.

Q: How do I expand the PoE budget to 1440W?
A: Install a second identical PWR-C5-1KWAC power supply in the redundant slot to achieve 1440W total PoE budget. The switch supports dual redundant power supplies for both increased capacity and high availability. The secondary power supply must match the primary unit.

Q: What Layer 3 routing features are included with Network Essentials?
A: The Network Essentials license includes basic Layer 3 routing with static routes, RIP, EIGRP Stub, OSPF (up to 1,000 routes), PIM Stub Multicast, and VRRP. For advanced routing and automation features like SD-Access, you would need to upgrade to the Network Advantage license.

Q: Is this switch compatible with Cisco DNA Center?
A: Yes, the C9200L-48PXG-4X-E is Cisco DNA ready and supports Plug and Play provisioning, centralized policy management, and automation through Cisco DNA Center. A separate DNA subscription is required for full DNA Center integration and advanced features.
